ActiveSlide 1.1.3 Feature Overview

Again ActiveSlide has done a major step in its continuous development. This time we have focussed on small but quite important improvements of existing features. For example, ActiveSlide supports a real full-screen mode now and comes with better graphic rendering. Of course there are also some new program features, e.g. you can insert special character symbols to your texts. Have a look at this list of all new features:

- Real full-screen mode!
Presentations run in a separate full-screen window now. Thus there are no more annoying borders at the top or bottom of the screen.

- Improved image quality!
Scaled pictures are now rendered with a far better quality and appear incredibly smooth. When resizing a picture new algorithms provide a quality similar to professional image processing software.

- Insert symbols!
In the menu you will find "Insert->Symbols" to open a table with special character symbols (such as pi or omega) which can be inserted into your text.

- Load presentations automatically!
To automatically load and run a presentation you can define a program parameter which defines the presentation file. If the first program parameter of ActiveSlide ends with the suffix ".tap" or ".zip" ActiveSlide will interpret the parameter as a presentation file name and attempts to load it. If you are running ActiveSlide on a Windows system you can define program parameters by clicking with your right mouse button on the program file (ActiveSlide1_1.exe). Choose "Properties" and add a parameter behind the application name. Tip: You can set ActiveSlide as the default application for all files that end with ".tap". If you do so, you will be able start any presentation file with a double click: ActiveSlide will automatically start and load the ".tap" file.

- Reports for external resources!
If you create a presentation with images ActiveSlide will create references to the external image files. Rather than including the images in the presentation file itself, ActiveSlide loads the images from their original locations on your hard drive. This gives you more flexibility in managing your resources. To get a better overview which external resources are used two new report features are provided. Menu option "Show->Resource report" will list all resources used in your current ActiveSlide presentation. Menu option "Show->Missing resource report" will list all resources that cannot be accessed by ActiveSlide (e.g. images that have been deleted or moved to a different location).

- Update image files!
On changing external image resources (e.g. by editing an image with image processing software) you can now update the viewed image in ActiveSlide. In the context menu of an image you can choose "Operations->Flush" to update the image. You can also update all images of a presentation in one single action, just choose "Edit->Flush all images" in the application menu.

- Better thumbnail views of slides!
The thumbnail view of slides is now updated more frequently, hence a more intuitive handling of slides is available.

- New script command returns path information!
The new command pathInfo returns the directory path of the running presentation or the path in which ActiveSlide was started.
pathInfo --> returns the absolute path to the directory in which the running presentation is located
pathInfo file --> returns the absolute path to the running presentation (including the file name)
pathInfo userdir --> returns the absolute path to the directory in which ActiveSlide was started
